Molasses Crinkles
recipe adapted from Betty Crocker
3/4 cup butter, room temperature
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Beat butter and sugar together by hand or with stand mixer fitted with paddle attachment until smooth (about 3 to 4 minutes).
Add molasses and egg and mix again for another few minutes until egg is fully incorporated.
Add all dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Scoop balls of dough and roll in granulated sugar then place on cookie sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
